KATHMANDU: Chief photojournalist of The Himalayan Times, Rajesh Gurung, has been bereaved. His father Phatte Bahadur Gurung, 68, died early Monday morning while undergoing treatment for cancer at the Birendra Military Hospital, Chhauni. An ex-Nepali army man, Gurung is survived by two sons and three daughters. The last rites were performed at Pashupati Aryaghat on Monday. — HNS
RPP-N flays attack
Kathmandu: The RPP-N has condemned Sunday’s “attack” on the party activists by the students affiliated to the seven-party alliance and the Maoists in Pokhara. Party chairman Rabindra Nath Sharma on Monday flayed and termed the attack “undemocratic.”— HNS
Rijal meets PM
KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala has said that the next government would work on problems of refugees, Bhutanese human rights activists and refugee leader, Tek Nath Rijal, said. Rijal led a delegation and met Koirala on Monday. “Koirala said that Nepal requested the Indian government to help in resolving the problem, but they suggested seeking a resolution through bilateral efforts,” Rijal said. — RSS
Boys rescued
ITAHARI: Four children, allegedly sold in India 45 days ago, were rescued and brought home on Monday. Prakash Rishidev, 13, Jeet Narayan Sadari, 13, Jitendra Sadar, 14 and Sanjaya Urab, 15, of Sunsari, were abducted by a local while on their way to school on October 19. — HNS
