2 killed in mishap

DHADING: One person was killed and three others injured when two vehicles crashed head-on at Gajuri VDC Dhading on the Prithvi Highway on Sunday morning. A Jeep (Ba 5 Cha 4602) bound for Kathmandu from Muglin and a microbus (Ba 1 Ja 7041) heading from Kathmandu to Narayangarh collided, police said. The deceased has been identified as Gajendra Pandit of Harpur, Parsa. Meanwhile, Riku Sada, 10, of Karjanha-7 (Siraha), died after she was

Services resume

POKHARA: The western regional hospital has resumed its services after relatives of the infant who died three days ago agreed to claim his body. Tension was prevailing at the hospital as relatives of an 11-month-old infant Binod Thapa, who died undergoing treatment for burn injuries, refused to claim the body. Meanwhile, the Janakpur Zonal Hospital, where all services except the emergency ward, were closed following manhandling of staffers today, will reopen on Monday. — HNS

Sharma NTA chief?

KATHMANDU: The Reader of the Institute of Engineering (IOE), Dr Dinesh Sharma, is likely to be appointed the next Managing Director of Nepal Telecom Authority (NTA). Others in the race for the post are Prabhakar Adhikari and Bhakta Pralad Pandey. While Adhikari is a former Information and Communication Secretary, the latter is a chartered accountant. — HNS

Worker dies in mishap

BARA: One worker died and three others were injured when they fell from the telephone tower they were installing for Spice Nepal Pvt Limited at Nijgarh in Bara district on Sunday morning. The deceased worker has been identified as Bishwo Ram Chaudhari, 22, of Manharwa-4, Bara. Three other workers — Ram Raj Chaudhari, Tarkeshwor Chaudhari and Suresh Chaudhari - were injured, said Nijgarh area police office. — HNS

TU VC Office locked

Kathmandu: The Tribhuvan University Central Struggle Committee (TUCSC) on Sunday locked the TU Vice Chancellor’s office and the Office of the Controller of Examination for an indefinite period to press for their demands. The students are out in the streets demanding the withdrawal of the Education Act Amendment Bill. — HNS
