Teachers’ stir on

RAMECHHAP: The Temporary Teachers’ Struggle Committee, Ramechhap, continued the lock-out at the District Education Office (DEO) on Friday, the last day of the second phase of its agitation, demanding that temporary teachers be made permanent. The temporary teachers also continued their sit-in at the DEO. Daily work at the DEO was affected due to the lock out. — HNS

Bomb explosion

DHANGADHI: A bomb exploded near the Campus Road area of Dhangadhi municipality on Thursday night but no losses were reported, the District Police Office said. The bomb went off around 11:00 pm on Thursday night terrorising locals. The details regarding the explosion have yet to be known. Maoists have clarified that they have no connection with the incident. Meanwhile, people have demanded investigation over the matter which they said was intended to terrorise people at a time when the whole nation was busy celebrating the victory of the peace agreement reached between the Seven Party Alliance and the CPN-Maoist. — RSS

Report released

SYANGJA: Account Committee constituted under the convenorship of various parties released its report on the irregularities committed by the DDC Syangja during the erstwhile Royal Government. The report states that various nominated officials and social workers had withdrawn thousands of rupees without any bills and receipt. According to the report those receipts said to be expensed have not been certified, there are no signatures of who submitted and approved it and other office properties were also used recklessly during the Royal Government regime. — RSS

Rally hails pact

RAMECHHAP: Activists of the CPN-Maoist staged a rally in the district headquarters, Manthali, on Friday to celebrate the historic success of summit talks between the seven parties and the Maoists. The rally, which began from Devkota Chowk of Manthali, went around the bazaar and ended as a street corner meeting after returning to Devkota Chowk. The Maoist Peoples’ Liberation Army soldiers also participated in the rally. Maoist district member Bharat Prasai, chairman of the Maoist Teachers’ Association and Nirman Kumar Karki addressed the meeting. — HNS

Man goes missing

BARA: The whereabouts of one Naresh Kumar Aryal, 31, of Bara Baghwan-1, who went missing since October 26, are still unknown. He was last seen in Kalaiya Bazaar. Aryal has a wife and a daughter. Aryal’s father, Aetra Prasad Aryal, has urged the authorities to take initiative to search for his missing son. — HNS

Six arrested

ILAM: Police have arrested six persons in connection with the murder of 37-year-old Prem Baraili, a resident of ward no 4 of Namsaling VDC, two months ago. The six were arrested on the basis of information provided by one Dhan Bahadur Rai, who was arrested on charge of murder. Among those arrested are two women namely, Kumari Rai and Dhan Kumari Baraeli. — RSS
