Mishap claims girl

NARAYANGARH: Sunita Dhungel, 8, daughter of Tanka Prasad Dhungel of Hetauda municipality-9, was killed when a motorbike hit her in Narayangarh on Wednesday, said the Chitwan District Police Office. She died while undergoing treatment at the Bharatpur Hospital, police said. Similarly, two persons—Bhimsen Dhakal and Bhuban Dhakal—were injured when a microbus hit the motorbike they were riding at Khairahani, Chitwan on Wednesday, police said. Chhath from today

JANAKPURDHAM: The Chhath festival of the Terai region is being observed from Thursday. The rising and setting sun is worshipped during the festival celebrated for four days. The first day is the Arba Arbain or Nahan Khan. The second is the Kharana meaning the reduction of sin. On the third day, the devotees go to rivers and ponds singing folk and devotional songs. One killed in mishap

BARA: One person was killed and three others critically injured when a car they were travelling in overturned at a bridge in Amlekhgunj on Monday, the Bara District Police Office said. The car was headed for Birgunj from Makawanpur. Driver Shiv Shankar Raut died undergoing treatment in the Narayani Sub-regional hospital in Birgunj, police said. — HNS

BARA: A house owned by Surendra Kushwaha of Uttarjhitkaiyya-1 in Bara district was gutted in a fire on Monday night. The fire started from a candle lit in the house on the occasion of Tihar. The fire gutted property worth Rs 30,000. — HNS
