Three hurt in mishap

ILAM: Three persons were injured when two passenger buses collided near Puwakhola on the Mechi Highway on Sunday. Minibus (Na 2 Kha 2260) heading to Birtamod from Phidim and bus (Me 1 Kha 695) heading to Taplejung from Birtamod dashed against each other, said police. VDC secy abducted

BHADRAPUR: The cadres of the Madhesi Rastriya Mukti Morcha have abducted secretary of Patabhari VDC of Jhapa district, Mohammand Samuruddhin Hak. Issuing a press release, Zonal bureau member of the Morcha MA Jhapali informed that Hak was abducted from No 2 Road of Bhadrapur. One dies of snakebite

KANCHANPUR: A woman of Bhidiya of Bhangaha-2 died when she was bitten by a snake on Sunday morning. Bhagini Chaudhari, 45, died while being taken to Lahan Nursing Home after the snake bit her at 7 am when she was in the field to collect grass. — RSS

Stretchers distributed

LAMJUNG: Twenty sets of stretchers have been distributed to the same number of remote villages of eastern Lamjung. The stretchers were distributed in villages, including Dudhpokhari, Bichaur, Ilampokhari, Kolki, Pyarjung, Gauda, Rainas, Mohiriyakot, Tarkughat and Chakratirtha under the coordination of the Nepal Red Cross Society Chakratirtha sub-division and with the cooperation of Nag Bhairav Rural Service Society. — RSS

KATHMANDU: Minister for Agriculture and Cooperatives Mahantha Thakur left for New Delhi on Sunday to take part in the Second International Rice Congress 2006 to be held there on October 9 to 13. Matters relating to various aspects of paddy cultivation will be discussed during the Congress, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives.
