Quiz contest held

LALITPUR: The Paropakar High School, Bhimshensthan won the first prize in the Second Baudha Pariyati Running Shield Quiz Contest held on Thursday. A statement issued here on Thursday said, Lumbini Pariyati Kendra, Lumbini, and Goti Bihar, Chapagaon, were the first and second runners-up, respectively. Thirty-three Pariyati centres from Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Laltipur, Rupandehi, Palpa, Nuwakot, Makwanpur, Kaski and Kavre participated in the quiz contest organised by Sukhi Hotu Nepal. — HNS

Relief for displaced

KATHMANDU: Nepal Foreign Employment Entrepreneurs Association has distributed relief material worth Rs 35,000 to displaced families of Bhagargadi VDC-9 of Bardiya. The association distributed 100 quintals of rice, 15 quintals of pulses, 300 litres oil, three quintals of salt and clothes, at Pashu Dev of Banke where the displaced persons have been living. The association informed that some 250 displaced families were provided relief material with the help of local Red Cross Society and Reli Banke. For the relief, SOS Manpower Services donated Rs 50,000 whereas Falcon Manpower provided Rs 25,000. — RSS

Phone service hit

BAJHANG: Journalists working in Bajhang district have been facing trouble due to lack of communication facilities. Daily events and activities of the district are not being brought to the national media on time due to lack of communication facilities. There are only three V-SAT telephone lines which remain crowded throughout the day. People have to stand in queue for as long as two hours to make a phone call and to add to their worries the phones do not work properly. — RSS

Aid for flood-hit

NEPALGUNJ: Over 200 families of Kohalpur and Manikapur of Banke district, which were affected by the floods, have been provided with relief worth Rs 256 ,000. The relief, provided by local organisation Sathi, contains two bed-sheets, one mosquito-net, foodstuff and Rs 100 for each family. Central Chairman of the Sathi, Pramoda Shah, and District Chairman Bhavani Rana distributed the materials at programmes organised separately in the villages. — RSS
