2,000 sheds razed
Nepalgunj: The District Forest Office demolished 2,000 sheds and houses, built on land of the Nepalgunj forest project area at Rajhena-4 Kohalpur, on Wednesday. Forest users and police joined hands in the drive. — HNS
Five houses looted
KAPILVASTU: A gang of 10 robbers, posing as Maoist cadres looted five houses at Hathihawa VDC, on the Indo-Nepal border in Kapilvastu, on Tuesday night , said Jay Bahadur Chand, SP at the District Police Office, adding they made off with cash and valuables worth Rs 1.25 lakh after scaring locals with firecrackers. Police reached the spot but the robbers had fled, Chand said. A search for the looters is underway, police said. — HNS
Three Nigerians held
KATHMANDU: Police held Nigeria nationals Nueke, James and Abio from Sano Gaucharan on Wednesday on suspicion of possessing fake Indian currency notes. They had come to Sano Gaucharan on a taxi to play football. Suspecting Indian currency notes given by the three might be fake, the driver had called police.— HNS
