Mishaps kill four

LEKHNATH/JHAPA: Suk Bahadur Lama and Sudarshan Sapkota, driver and worker of a bus, were killed when the bus skidded off a road at Nareshpur, Kaski, and tumbled 200 metres down on Friday, police said, adding that Jokhin Mohamad was critically injured in the accident. Meanwhile, a native of Charpane VDC, Som Kisum (33), died when a truck hit him in Birtamod on Thursday night, police said, adding Shiva Kumar Siwakoti, of Damak-10, died when a bus hit him in Damak the same night. Also, a man aged about 40 years was found dead on the banks of the Timai River in Shantinagar VDC on Friday. — HNS

Prachanda in Jhapa

Jhapa: Chairman of the CPN-Maoist, Prachanda arrived here on Friday along with wife Sita Poudel and senior leader of the party Dr Babu Ram Bhattarai. Journalists, who met Prachanda and Dr Bhattarai outside Thapa’s just as the two were leaving, were told by Prachanda that their visit was political and that he would talk to journalists in a day or two. — HNS
