Meet on border crime

Itahari: Nepali and Indian officials, following a meeting held here on Sunday, agreed to help prevent criminal activities along the border and replace lost border pillars with new ones. According to Chief District Officer of Sunsari, a participants at the meeting, officials of both the countries agreed to mobilise their security forces for controlling criminal activities along the border areas. While administrative chiefs and police officials represented the Nepali side at the meeting, the Indian side was represented, among others, by district magistrate of Supout, SSP VP Singh, and SP RP Singh. —RSS

Prisoner dies

KATHMANDU: Binod Karki, prisoner at Central Jaill, Kirtipur, died of heart disease on Monday at Bir Hospital, police said, adding Karki, who hailed from Morang district, was jailed for theft cases some months ago. —HNS

Four hurt in mishap

Itahari: Four persons were critically injured when two Maruti vans collided at Halgada Chowk on Monday morning, police said, identifying the injured as Ranga Lal Giri, Amar Bahadur Limbu, Mani Limbu and Yam Kunwar. — HNS
