UML panel meet

KATHMANDU: A meeting of the CPN-UML’s advisory committee chaired by committee chairman Kamal Koirala discussed the current political scenario, including elections to a constituent assembly, interim statute, interim parliament, interim government and restructuring of the state. A statement issued on Monday said the meeting, attended by party general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal and standing committee member Amrit Kumar Bohara also discussed the way the government is functioning, land policy and ongoing civil movement. — HNS

Tobacco convention

KATHMANDU: The House of Representatives on Monday directed the government to table the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control, which was signed by the previous government, in the House for endorsement. The House unanimously passed the proposal tabled by CPN-UML chief whip Mahendra Pandey, who said the framework should be endorsed by the parliament, though it was signed by the previous government. — HNS
