BHARATPUR: A person was killed and five others were injured in separate incidents in Chitwan on Friday.

Cancer patient Rajisara Thapa Magar of Rishing Rural Municipality-5 in Tanahun district died following the accident happened on Friday evening.

A truck (Na 6 Kha 7044) en route from Narayangadh to Muglin collided head-on with an ambulance (Ga 2 Cha 8962) heading to Bharatpur from Tanahun, injuring 62-year-old Magar aboard the vehicle, at Ghumaune along the Narayangadh-Muglin road section.

She died during the course of treatment at the Chitwan Medical College. Four others including the drivers of both vehicles have been injured in the incident.  Of the injured, three are being treated at the medical college while the truck driver is undergoing treatment at Muglin-based medical hall.

Similarly, Bishweshwar Ghimire (40) of Bharatpur Municipality-7 was severely injured after a car hit the motorcycle he was riding on, at Tehrasal Chok on Friday, the District Police Office Chitwan confirmed.

Meanwhile, Ghimire is receiving treatment at the medical college.

Police have impounded the car and detained its driver for further investigation into the incident.
