Over one dozen cadres arrested in Saptari
Rajbiraj, February 2
Around one-and-a-half dozen United Democratic Madhesi Front cadres were arrested while trying to foil the municipal convention of Nepali Congress in Rajbiraj, Saptari today.
The leaders and cadres of the front were arrested from the premises of Rajbiraj-based Kesho Anirudrawati Secondary School, while carrying out various activities to obstruct the convention. UDMF Saptari Coordinator Kapildev Yadav, Sadbhawana Party central member Dinesh Yadav, federal Socialist Party Forum Nepal Saptari Chairperson Dinesh Kumar Yadav, Student Forum central Chairperson Kishor Kumar Yadav, among others, were detained by District Police Office Rajbiraj.
Five other cadres arrested, including municipal coordinator Umesh Kumar Sah of the front were held when they were chanting slogans in front of the Nepali Congress election booth.

After the arrests, activists of the front staged demonstrations at various places demanding their release.
The municipal election of the NC concluded in a peaceful manner. Earlier, Nepali Congress convention in the municipality was called off due to the demonstration yesterday. A large number of security personnel have been deployed in the area.
The conventions were disrupted today as well.
