‘One for prez from establishment side’
Biratnagar, February 22
Nepali Congress leader Sujata Koirala today said that only a single candidate would be vying for the post of party president from the establishment side at the party’s upcoming General Convention.
Speaking at a press meet organised by Nepal Press Union Morang in Biratnagar, Koirala said, “We are deliberating with Ramchandra Paudel,” Koirala said, adding, “After discussion, a single candidate will file his/her candidacy for the party’s top job from the establishment side.”
Koirala stated that she was still mulling over filing candidacy for president at the upcoming General Convention. “I will not declare my candidacy right now, but I am having discussion with friends regarding my candidacy,” Sujata added.
Koirala claimed that conferring the right posts to the right persons would help strengthen the party.
“Instead of narrowing down the party, we have to increase the posts to offer posts to many. For this, we should go for multi-post system,” Koirala held.
She stressed the need to increase the posts of vice-president, general secretaries, among others. “This is not for particular persons but for the party’s expansion,” Koirala said.
