One held with 1.6 kg undeclared gold in Hetauda

HETAUDA: Police have arrested a youth in possession of 1.6-kilogram undeclared gold from Hetauda-15 in Makawanpur district on Thursday.

Organising a press meet today, police made the alleged gold smuggler public at the District Police Office (DPO), Makawanpur in Hetauda.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team deployed under the command of Police Inspector Arun Kushuwaha intercepted a bus (Na 8 Kha 3792) heading to Birgunj from Kathmandu at Hetauda-15 and apprehended Kishore Laguna Bishowkarma (29) of Sadananda Municipality-4 in Bhojpur district.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) at Makawanpur DPO, Mukesh Kumar Singh, police recovered 1.6 kilograms of illegal gold hidden under the alleged smuggler's shoes.

According to DSP Singh, the current market value of the yellow metal is Rs 8.58 million.

The arrestee along with the seized gold has been sent to the Revenue Investigation Office in Pathaliya of Bara district for further investigation, DSP Singh added.
