One held with arms, drugs in Makwanpur

HETAUDA: Police said an alleged smuggler has been arrested with arms and hashish from Makwanpur, on Saturday.

Police apprehended Raju Santyang aka Kumar of Raksirang Rural Municipality-1 in the district and made him public along with the seized arms, ammunition and drugs at the District Police Office, Makwanpur, in Hetauda, today.

According to Police Inspector Anish Budathoki, the suspect abruptly opened fire at police. Subsequently, police retaliated and nabbed Raju Santyang but his accomplices managed to flee the scene.

Police also seized 31.4-kilogram of hashish, a pistol, five-round of bullets, DPO Chief and Superintendent of Police (SP) Mukesh Kumar Singh said.

Meanwhile, an investigation into the case is underway, police said.
