One held with fake notes
Birgunj, May 1:
Police arrested a youth, Ashok Kumar Shah Kanu of Birgunj 10 Gahawa, with 70 fake Indian currency notes of Rs 500 denomination on Wednesday evening from Birgunj submetropolis-15, inspector at the district police office Parsa Kedar Panta said at a press conference at his office today.
A preliminary investigation revealed that Kanu was working for a network dealing in counterfeit currency notes, Panta said.
Kanu has been taken into custody for further investigation.
Last week, police had confiscated fake currency notes amounting to INRs 2 lakh from the Newa Pagoda Lodge in Birgunj’s main road. A big network dealing in counterfeit currency is active in Birgunj, Panta said.
