One held with silver

BIRGUNJ: Police arrested an Indian national with five kg silver from the Nepal-India border area of Chhapkainya in Birgunj on Tuesday. DSP Anurag Dwibedi of Narayani Zonal Police Office, Birgunj, said police, acting on a tip-off, had arrested Binod Prasad Kalawar of Raxaul, India while he was crossing the border through Birgunj. He informed mediapersons that the seized silver and the arrested would be sent to Revenue Investigation Office, Pathliya, for further investigation.

Marijuana seized

RAUTAHAT: Police have arrested three smugglers including two children with eight kg marijuana for smuggling the contraband from Garuda VDC of Rautahat on Tuesday. A police team deployed from Area Police Office, Garuda, had arrested Pabitra Praja, 30, Sita Praja, 15 and Sharmila Praja, 12 of Bharta VDC, Makawanpur. The trio was arrested from a bus, which was heading to Gaur from Chandranigahapur, during security checking. Inspector Santalal Jaisawal of Area Police Office, Garuda, said that the police team, acting on a tip-off, had confiscated the illegal stuffs from the arrested. He said that the smugglers fled from the scene. But, the police team was able to nab some of them.

Teen drowns

DHANGADI: A youth drowned in Mohana River in Dhangadi Municipality in Kailali on Monday evening. The deceased has been identified as Aashish Singh, 16, of the municipality, said DSP Bishworaj Singh of District Police Office, Kailali. He informed that Singh was a recent School Leaving Certificate (SLC) graduate from Dipendra Police Residential School.

Body found

DHANGADI: The body of an unidentified man was found in Dhangadi municipality-based Postal Highway in Kailali on Tuesday morning. Police said that the man, in his mid-fifties, was found at the edge of the road. The body has been kept in the morgue of Seti Zonal Hospital for identification, said police.
