One hurt in blast near Maoist office
Kathmandu, February 19:
A grenade blast was reported yesterday night some five metres away from the Maoist office premises at Kupandole.
A 22-year-old woman was injured in the blast, president of the Newar National Liberation Front, Pawan Kumar Shrestha, said. The woman was sleeping at her house when the blast took place, he added. She sustained only minor injuries on her thigh.
Shrestha said a grenade was hurled, apparently at the Maoist office, but it fell five metres away from the office.
The Maoists called the police and they reached the site at around 12 noon today. No arrests have been made. The Maoists had also called the Home Minister late in the night to inform him of the incident. Shrestha claimed that the Home Minister said it could be a conspiracy by the royalists. Shrestha said the grenade was in use only in the Nepalese Army.
