One injured in police firing in Pokhara

POKHARA: A person has been injured in police firing at Uttamchok in Pokhara Metropolitan City-10, Wednesday morning. The injured has been identified as Govinda Thapa, 30, a local resident.

Police had come to know that Thapa was in possession of illegal drugs. When the police attempted to take Thapa under custody, he took the security personnel's gun in his own hand and tried to attack them, following which the police fired at him.

A team from District Police Office, Kaski reached the incident site to arrest Thapa.

He has been injured in his left leg from the firing and is currently receiving treatment at the Western Regional Hospital in Pokhara, informed Spokesperson of Kaski Police, Ganesh Subedi.

Police confiscated illegal pharmaceutical drugs including Diazepam, Phenergan among others from Thapa's possession.

Kaski Police has been carrying out awareness programmes against drug abuse.
