Narayangarh, May 11:

One Chandra Bahadur Shrestha, 40, of Pithuwa was killed when a jeep used by Basu Memorial Brigade under the Maoists’ Third Division at Chainpur in Chitwan ran him over at Kankali Chowk in Jutpani.

Shrestha, who was critically injured in the accident, died undergoing treatment in the College of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital in Bharatpur, the District Police Office, Chitwan, said. Irate locals disrupted traffic in Ratnanagar of Chitwan for three hours after the accident demanding compensation for the victim’s family and action against the guilty. They also torched and vandalised the jeep and shouted anti-Maoist sloganst. Traffic resumed after an agreement was reached on compensation and action against the guilty driver.
