One killed while resisting dacoits

Birgunj, June 9:

One person was killed and four others injured when villagers retaliated the armed dacoits at

Biranjebarwa VDC of Parsa district last night.

Salim Miyan, 45, of Semra Tole in Biranjebarwa VDC was shot dead by the dacoits when patrolling villagers clashed with the dacoits, who were attempting to break into Salim’s house, the Area Police Office (APO) at Pokhariya said. Salim sustained two gunshot wounds in the stomach.

Villagers Sanjay Shah, Jaybalak Shah, Rambalak Shah and Madan Mohan Shah were injured in the firing by the dacoits, police said. They are being treated at Narayani Sub-regional Hospital here.

The baton-armed night patrol of the villagers resisted the dacoits for about half-an-hour but the dacoits managed to take away cash and goods worth Rs 50,000 from Salim’s house, police said. The spot lies some 15 km from the district headquarters and only two km from Pokhariya APO. Salim’s son, Kalamuddin fell unconscious after the death of his father.
