One more nabbed in Singhaniya murder case

Dhanusha police on Friday arrested one more person for his alleged involvement in the murder of media entrepreneur Arun Kumar Singhaniya.

A special team from the District Police Office nabbed Manak Lama from Biratnagar. Lama, a resident of Dhanusha’s Godar VDC, will be made public tomorrow, police said.

Media entrepreneur Singhniya was shot at Janakpur’s Shiva Chowk on March 1, 2010. Police investigation showed that Lama was hired to shoot Singhaniya.

According to police investigation, Lama had opened fire at Singhaniya and fled the country following the incident. Upon his return, Lama had been hiding in India. Another accused, Ram Bidnod Yadav, is still at large.

Meanwhile, lawmaker Sanjay Sah, who was suspended for his alleged involvement in Singhaniya’s murder, was transferred to Kathmandu’s Charkhal-based Sadarkhor after he was reluctant to record his statement at the district court. Of those arrested, the statement of Ansi Rai has yet to be recorded while Chandra Deep Yadav and Eklal Sahani have been remanded to custody.

Similarly, the district court has sought Rs 20,000 bail from Mukesh Chaudhary, Rs 2 lakh from Om Yadav and Rs 50,000 from Ram Karan Yadav, other accused in the murder.
