Ongoing protest affecting immunisation programme
KATHMANDU: The national immunisation programme has been affected and postponed for infinite period due to the ongoing protest by health workers
The programme was organised by Child Health Division under the Ministry of Health scheduled for February 17 and 18, but postponed for infinite period owing to the ongoing protest, the Division said.
The Division had written to the Ministry to set a new time-frame for the programme, however, a process is yet to be taken forward, it said, adding that other general vaccination programmes have also been affected.
The Division said its call to the protestors to cooperate with the programme has not been heeded.
Meanwhile, the health workers, who have taken to the streets putting forth various demands, including the implementation of the Health Service Act 9 (Kha), have said they would not cooperate with the government until their demands are met.
