Only NC serious about polls: Joshi
Lamjung, December 30:
Nepali Congress central member Govindaraj Joshi today alleged that the other political parties were using the NC to achieve their goals as they had been unable to accomplish them on their own.
Addressing a west region gathering of Nepal Teachers’ Union, Joshi asked, “How can the CA polls be held at a time when the law and order situation is worsening and the ethnic unrest is gripping the Madhes? What will happen when the Maoist PLA fighters are integrated into the national army though they were involved in killing, violence and extortion in the past?”
Stating that no party except the NC is serious about the polls, Joshi said, “NC should go ahead on its own.”
As the demands of the teachers would be addressed after the polls, they should make the CA polls a success, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, former Minister of State for Education NP Saud said, “The chances of holding CA polls even in mid-April are dim due to the shenanigans of the Maoists.”
He stressed the need to bring complete change in the education sector. NTU chairman Keshav Bhattarai said the prevailing education policy would not help realise the dream of the formation of a new Nepal.
Chairman of the Nepal Teachers’ Association, Mohan Gyawali, said the seven parties would not stay in the government if it failed to hold the poll by mid-April.
Members of Parliament Ram Bahadur Gurung, Hari Bhakta Adhikari, NC Lamjung president Tulasi Narayan Shrestha, the Nepal Women Association’s central member Gyanu Shah and CDO Durga Prasad Pokhrel also expressed their views on the occasion.
