Opposing Gachhadar's support to govt, most MJF-D Rautahat leaders quit party
RAUTAHAT: Most district committee members of the Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum-Democratic in Rautaht district on Friday announced that they quit the party protesting its central Chairman Bijay Kumar Gachhadar's decision to join the incumbent government.
Gachhadar is Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport in the current government led by CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli.
MJF-D Rautahat district chairman Ajaya Gupta said they resigned from all responsibilities of the party as the party decision to join the government was against sentiments of Madhesi people.
Meanwhile, the leaders and cadres, who announced the resignation, are staging a sit-in at the Indo-Nepal bordering bridge in Bairgania, in solidarity with with protesting political forces in Madhes.
Gupta said they would actively engage in the Madhes movement after the resignation.
