KATHMANDU, MAY 22

Following the government's midnight decision to dissolve the House of Representatives, leaders of the opposition alliance have decided to convene a meeting to discuss the steps that can be taken in response to PM Oli and President Bhandari's move.

Leaders from the Nepali Congress, CPN- Maoist Centre, Rastriya Janamorcha, Madhav Nepal faction of ruling CPN-UML, and Upendra Yadav faction of Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal will hold a meeting in Federal Parliament premises shortly, it has been learnt.

The opposition is likely to contemplate on legal and political strategies in response to PM-President's second attempt at dissolving the House and calling snap polls.

Statements condemning the government's recent move deeming it against the spirit of constitution and rule of law have been pouring in from opposition leaders, disgruntled faction of UML, as well as from members of civil society.

Meanwhile, cabinet ministers, Oli's allies and supporters have defended his move saying that he was left with no other option but to make the call on early polls.
