Outfits to launch a joint movement for a Kirant state
DHARAN: Armed outfits and other groups agitating for the establishment of a Kirant State in the Eastern Region have agreed to launch an armed struggle for the establishment of an autonomous state.
A meeting held between the representatives of Kirant Janabadi Workers' Party and Kirant Khambuwan Samyukta Morcha in an undisclosed location have decided to launch a decisive struggle.
According to a leader, who participated in the meeting, an alliance of all the groups would be formed to fight for the State. Representatives of Khambuwan Democratic Front, Khambuwan National Front, Independent Khambuwan Concern Forum, Kirant Workers' Party, including other groups, have agreed to launch a joint movement for a Khumbuwan State.
Bidroha Bibwas Kiranti, chairman of the underground Kirant Workers' Party, said all the groups demanding separate Kirant and Khambuwan states would jointly take ahead their revolt. The workers' party had also decided to work together with outfits active in the Tarai region as well. He said they would work cooperatively with ethnic groups fighting for independent states.
Meanwhile, at a press meet in Dharan last Saturday, the party announced not to sit for talks with the government. Stating that the ultimatum for talks had expired, Kiranti added, ''We will establish a Kirant state through our movement.'' He said Kirant Janabadi Workers' Party and Kirant Khambuwan Samyukta Morcha would be unified before their next meeting. However, Morcha is yet to publicise its formal view.
