Over 300 people stranded in Bara

Bara, March 19:

At least 300 passengers of around a dozen vehicles have been stranded at Nijgadh, Bara district, from last night due to the Maoist-called blockade.

The locals provided the passengers food and shelter free of cost, said Eka Bahadur Shrestha, outgoing chairman of Nijgadh VDC.

Nijgadh-based Industrial and Commerce Union, Dibya Jyoti Club, Red Cross, among other organisations, are trying to help the stranded passengers, said Sudip Choulagai, a Nijgadh local. “My bus left for Birtamod, Jhapa on Friday evening, but I am still stranded here,” complained Dhruv Ghimire, a Birtamod denizen.
