Over 6,000 quake survivors yet to receive ID

RATNANAGAR: More than six thousand quake survivors in Chitwan are yet to receive the relief assistance announced by the government.

The quake survivors have yet to receive their ID cards even five months after the April 25 Gorkha quake. A total of 13,620 houses were fully or partially damaged in the district. However, only 7,450 families have got their ID card so far.

Likewise, only 7,198 families have received the relief assistance. The government had announced Rs. 15,000 as immediately relief for completely destroyed and Rs. 3,000 for partially damaged houses, according to District Natural Management Committee.

The District Administration Office has so far distributed Rs. 75.8 million as relief to the quake survivors in the district.

The distribution of relief support including the ID cards have been affected due to lack of data and also due to dispute in some places, said Information Officer of the Committee Balram Luintel.
