Over Rs 15 million stolen from Agricultural Development Bank

KATHMANDU: Just weeks after the country's biggest ATM heist by Chinese nationals, more than Rs 15 million has been stolen from the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB).

It has been reported that a group of people gained illegal access into the bank's system and transferred out the amount.

Him Lal Poudel, Spokesperson at the ADB head office in Kathmandu claimed that the incident occurred due to misuse of password and that it was not a case of hacking. He added that the amount stolen by the perpetrators ranged between Rs 15 million and Rs 20 million.

Poudel said that the bank has started an internal investigation into the incident alongside police. According to him, some suspects have already been arrested in connection to the case.

Meanwhile, Metropolitan Crime Division have stated that a press release is being held today afternoon at 2:00 where further details into the case and arrests will be divulged to the public.
