Pak emergency flayed

Kathmandu, November 13:

Leaders of different political parties and the civil society today expressed concern about the failure of Nepali political parties in condemning the emergency declared in Pakistan by General Pervez Musharraf.

Speaking ay a discussion programme, organized here today by SAFMA Nepal, they alleged that Nepali political parties sought support from foreign forces at the time of emergency in Nepal, however, they remained silent when emergency was imposed in Pakistan.

CPN (UML) standing committee member Jhalanath Khanal said though unity among seven parties has wider base it has remained badly managed. He said Nepal’s future would be bleak if the seven-party unity is broken. NC leader Prakash Sharan Mahat said a person who desires to control the judiciary, the Press, democracy and human rights becomes a tyrant.

Condemning the against emergency rule in Pakistan, FNJ president Bishnu Nishthuri, president of Press Chautari Nepal Balkrishna Chapagain, journalists Harihar Birahi and Purushottam Dahal and president of SAFMA Nepal Gopal Thapalia urged the Pakistan government to reinstate democracy at the earliest.
