Palpa youth to come out on indefinite strike from today
RAMPUR: The youth and students have called an indefinite strike in Palpa in protest at the decision to shift the district to Province no 4 from today.
Joint Youth, Tarun and Student Agitation Committee, Palpa said it would not recognise the government's decision to split Province no 5 through Constitution amendment. The strike has affected schools, transportation, factories, marketplace, shops, industries and various organisations. The passengers have been stranded after short and long route vehicles remained stationary on Thursday.
The agitators held strike till 5 pm on Thursday against the decision to shift hilly districts of Palpa, Gulmi, Arghakhanchi, Pyuthan, Rukum and Rolpa from Tarai.
The draft of the amendment proposal, which the government registered at the Parliament Secretariat on Tuesday proposes for shifting Palpa, Gulmi, Argakhanchi, Rolpa and Rukum districts to Province no 4.
