Panel approves envoys

KATHMANDU: Parliamentary Public Hearing Committee of the legislature-parliament approved Dr Shankar Sharma and Rukma Shumsher Rana’s appointment as envoys to the United States and India, respectively, on Thursday. Earlier, a Cabinet meeting had decided to appoint the duo. Both Sharma and Rana were appointed as per the quota allocated to the Nepali Congress. The posts had fallen vacant when the UCPN-Maoist-led government had called back the envoys to the US and India, Dr Suresh Chalise and Durgesh Man Singh, respectively, before their tenure could expire. The panel approved their names unanimously as there were no complaints filed against them.
