Kathmandu, December 18:

The Journalists’ Minimum Wage Determining Committee has started categorising the designations, facilities and wages of working journalists and other workers in media houses.

Organising a press conference in Kathmandu today, Suresh Acharya, president of the committee, said, “We are going to organise an interaction in Kathmandu with all concerned to implement the Working Journalists Act soon.”

The meetings of the committee held on October 5, October 8 and October 15 dwelled on

budget, work plan and working procedure of the committee, Acharya said.

Acharya added, “We had demanded Rs 9,280,000 from the government but the government allocated only Rs 685,000 for the committee.”

Acharya said, “The committee is planning to organise the interaction by mid-February

and decide on minimum salary for the working journalists by mid-March.” The committee was formed on September 14.
