BAGLUNG: Paragliding flights were tested successfully in three places in the district -- Malma of Galkot, Sardakhet of Ramchedhunga-5 and Setighaderi of Naredanti on Monday.

The paragliding flight test coincided with the Galkot Festival. Pilot Duryodhan Khadka with 10 years of paragliding experience flew approximately 13 minutes in the Galkot Municipality sky and alighted at Baskhola. Likewise, Niranjan Kunwar with six years of experience also flew.

"There is paragliding potentiality in all three places. The test flight was successful in view of geographical structure, height and air pressure," said Khadka.

Lying 1,900 metres above the sea level, Ramchedhunga has a potentiality for paragliding, said chairperson of ward 7 in the municipality Tika Bahadur Thapa. "A plan is afoot to operate a paragliding flight on a regular basis after developing infrastructure and carrying out a study in this regard."

The feasibility study and the test flight were conducted by the ward office and the Ramchedhunga Tourism Development Centre.
