Parsa District Court orders release of eight doctors on bail

PARSA: The Parsa District Court has ordered the release of eight doctors, who were taken in police custody on the charge of possessing fake academic certificates, on bail.

A single bench of judge Mohammad Junaid on Monday ordered their release.

On June 17, the Nepal Police's Central Investigation Bureau had arrested eight practicing medical doctors from different health facilities of Birgunj under the Operation Quack on the charge of using fake academic credentials to obtain their professional licences.

All eight of them are to be released on bail as per the court decision, according to court Information Officer Madhav Prasad Timilsina.

The Court has fixed Rs 3.5 million for Dr Mahammad Ruhullah, Rs 775,000 for Dr Ram Kumar Pradhan, Rs 1.8 million for Dr Dinesh Kumar Sah Teli, Rs 400,000 for Dr Kush Raj Giri, Rs 375,000 for Dr Irshad Ul Haqq, Rs 1.5 million for Dr Panna Lal Patel, Rs 200,000 for Dr Nimesh Raman Pal and Rs 1 million for Dr Saroj Kumar Singh as a bail amount.

The Court observed that the Nepal Medical Council would decide whether they could return to practice after their release on bail.
