Parsa murder triggers stir threat

Birgunj, September 20:

Employees of financial institutions and government offices today announced an indefinite agitation in Parsa from tomorrow to protest the murder of an officer of the Parsa District Administration Office, Mohan Mainali.

Issuing a release today, nine organisations, including VDC Right’s Protection Centre, Local Body Employees’ Organisation, Nepal Government Employees’ Organisation, Agriculture Development Bank Employees’ Organisation, National Commercial Bank Employees’ Organisation, Nepal Rastra Bank Employees’ Organisation, Nepal Bank Limited and National Trading Limited demanded that Mainali be declared a martyr.

They have threatened to give continuity to the strike till their five-point demand is met. They

have demanded Rs 1.5 million for the victim’s family, employment for one member of the family, action against the murderer and security for employees.

Last rites of Mainali were performed in Pashupati today. Home Minister Bamdev Gautam has pledged to bring the murderer to the book.
