Parties divided over issues: Khanal
Dang, February 10:
CPN-UML standing committee member Jhalanath Khanal today accused present political leadership of being at odds with one another on all major issues and dragging their heels in coming to a consensus.
Speaking at a press conference organised by the Dang chapter of the Press Chautari-Nepal in Ghorahi, Khanal said: “Though the CPN-UML urged to go in for a federal system a month ago, all the other parties nixed it.”
“Had the demand for a federal system been accepted then, the Terai unrest would have never taken place,” Khanal said, adding: “ Our political leadership has a tendency to pull the cart when it starts rolling after the people push it.”
“The interim government was formed in the first phase; the constituent assembly poll will be held in the second phase and a new constitution will be formed in the third phase. The transitional phase will end after the declaration of the new statute.”
