Parties’ stand on republic ‘not consistent’
Janakpurdham, October 13:
Politicians, intellectuals and media people, speaking at an interaction programme on ‘Madhes Problems and Solution’, organised by the Nepal Press Union (Dhanusha) here today, criticised some of the political parties for “talking about republicanism in public and working as pawns of regressive forces in private.”
They said that discriminatory attitude towards the Madhes and Madhesis like non-inclusion of the Madhesis in the policy-making level and denying of their right to self-determination even now point at the mentality of the rulers towards the Madhes.
Nepali Congress district president Ram Saroj Yadav said the spoilsport the CPN (Maoist) is playing to put off the Constituent Assembly elections is against the Madhes and federal governance.
Ramkrishna Yadav of the Nepali Congress said that the Constituent Assembly (CA) elections will help resolve the Madhesi problem.
Srilal Mahaseth of the United Left Front warned that it will be dangerous for the nation and the rulers to neglect the problems plaguing the Madhes.
Senior journalist Rajeshwar Nepali said the country is in a precarious situation due to sycophancy and palace intrigues.
