Party to submit memo to prime minister soon

Kathmandu, October 4

Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal is set to submit a memorandum to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Monday urging him to meet their demands and warning him that they will launch peaceful agitation both in the Parliament and the street.

The party will also submit similar memorandums to District Administration Offices of all Tarai districts.

RJP-N leader Rajendra Mahato said if the government did not amend the constitution, swear in RJP-N lawmaker Resham Chaudhary and withdraw false charges slapped on party leaders and cadres, then the party would launch agitation after the festivals.

“This government, which commands two-thirds majority in the Parliament, has not even uttered the words ‘constitution amendment’ and hence we are compelled to protest against the government. He said the party’s support to the government would be automatically withdrawn once it launched protests.

The RJP-N had extended its support to the KP Sharma Oli-led government.

Mahato said the party needed to protest against the government also because of people’s increasing frustration over spike in crime, violence against women and problems of misrule and corruption. “I hope the government does not compel us to resort to agitation,” Mahato added.
