Patients test negative to dengue

Nepalgunj: Tests carried out on suspected dengue fever patients have revealed that they are not infected with the disease, said members of the expert team of the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division.

A team of four led by head of the division Dr GD Thakur tested 15 patients in Nepalgunj and Kohalpur on Thursday and Friday. He said no dengue virus was found in them. Dr Thakur said the tests carried out are more than 98 per cent reliable. More detailed tests for further diagnosis will be carried out in Kathmandu, he said. “Tests were carried out but not a single case yielded a definite indicator of dengue fever. However, we will take the samples to Kathmandu for further tests.”
