Patients treated on terrace at health centre

Ramechhap, September 24:

A government-owned Primary Health Center at the district headquarters Manthali has been treating its patients on the terrace for last one week. This happened after the centre was shifted to an old, one-storey building. As there is not enough space for the patients in the small building, they are being treated on the terrace. CDO Chuda Mani Basyal said the new building for the health center was still under constrution. He said the health centre had to be moved because of security concerns. The old house where the centre has been shifted used to serve as the District Police Office. But this is only a temporary arrangement, Basyal said.

Public Health Inspector Ram Hari Subedi informed that the center was desperately short of beds and rooms for the incoming patients. The center has just three beds while 40 patients on average visit it everyday. Therefore the patients had to be shifted to the terrace and corridors, said Subedi. The construction works of the new building for health centre, which has been going on for eight years, has not been completed yet.
