Petroleum import disrupted

Kathmandu, August 12:

Import of petroleum was disrupted for the second day today after Bara locals blocked the tankers from moving ahead, demanding compensation to the family of a man killed by a tanker yesterday.

According to the spokesperson for Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) Mukunda Dhungel, all the tankers that left for Raksaul had been stranded on the way.

Meanwhile, locals near Thankot depot of NOC today did not allow any tanker to go in or come out of the depot for three hours, demanding that the NOC repair a local road.

Locals have accused the NOC of plying heavy vehicles on the road but not maintaining it. The road has developed big ditches, locals said.
