Nawalparasi, November 20:

A unified team of the UNMIN, UNDP and UNICEF today completed second phase of verification process of the Maoists’ PLA personnel at the Fourth Division Headquarters, Jhyalthungadanda. A total of 4,000 PLA personnel were verified during the process. Verification process of 4,000 PLA personnel, except those who are on leave, was completed today, division commander Yam Bahadur Adhikari “Pratikshya” said, adding the verification process could not be completed in a single phase as 12 per cent out of the total PLA personnel can stay on leave.

PLA personnel of the fourth division have been staying in sub-camps at the Paribartan Memorial Brigade, Hattikhor, Basanta Memorial Brigade, Jargaha and Sainamaina of Krishnasen Memorial Bridage, Rupandehi.

The UN team would start the next verification process in the PLA Third Division at Jutpani, said UNMIN’s representatives.

The second phase of verification process began on November 3. During the first phase of verification process, 5,067 PLA personnel were verified in the division.
