Phase III polls: NDF wins Ishanath, NC victorious in Paroha municipalities

Nepal Democratic Forum has won both mayoral and deputy mayoral posts in the third phase of local level election in Ishanath Municipality, Rautahat.
Santosh Meheta, the mayoral candidate and Hushnaara Khatun, the deputy mayoral candidate from NDF won the election in the municipality.
Meheta received 5,785 votes while his closest rival Kaushalya Devi form Nepali Congress received 5,236 votes. Similarly, deputy mayoral candidate Khatun received 5,236 votes while her closest rival Shekh Kalam of NC received 4,432 votes.
Returning Officer Chinta Mani Sharma said the Nepali Congress won the election in wards 1, 2, 7 and 8 of the municipality while the candidate from Nepal Democratic Forum won the election in wards 3, 4, 5, 6 and 9.
Similarly, Nepali Congress won the mayoral and deputy mayoral posts in Paroha Municipality. Shekh Wokil received 6,330 votes while his closet rival Arun Kumar Jaisawal from the CPN-Maoist Centre got 4,077 votes. Deputy mayoral candidate Sugandhi Devi Giri from the NC won the election receiving 6,098 votes while her closet rival Punam Kumar Patel from CPN-MC got 3,957 votes. Of the nine wards, the NC’s panel won the election in seven wards, while the CPN-MC won two wards in the municipality.
