Photograph showing NC flag on top of Everest handed over to Panchthar party president

Phidim, May 2

Mountaineer Shushil Sherma, who hoisted the flag of the Nepali Congress on top of Mt Everest last year, handed over a photograph to the party leadership in Panchthar district today.

The photo shows the Nepali Congress party flag on top of Mt Everest.

Sherma handed over the photo to Nepali Congress Panchthar President Narendra Kumar Kerung at a function organised in Phidim today morning and expressed concern about the present status of the party. “I feel, Nepali Congress, which was stable and strong like Mt Everest in the past, started declining due to intra-party conflicts and factionalism. I wish the party regains its past gloryand comes back to its original firm state,” he said.

Sherma, who is a member of the NC affiliated Nepal Trade Union, had climbed the highest peak in May last year. He is planning to hand over another photograph to party Chairperson Sher Bahadur Deuba later.

Meanwhile, NC Panchthar District President Kerung claimed that his party had faced great loss in all levels during elections due to the left alliance and said that it would not matter much for the party in the long run.
