JAJARKOT: Not even a month after the 4.5-KW Piko Hydro Power Project was inaugurated, the canal that channelises the water from the hydropower collapsed at Garkhakot-9 in Jajarkot, on Sunday.

Supply of electricity that had been illuminating as many as 61 households has been disrupted since the canal collapsed, said the Electricity Users' Committee Chairman Harka Bahadur Budha.

The power supply would resume only after the canal is repaired.

Due to the financial constraints, the repair may take longer, shared Committee Chair Budha.

Locals have claimed that the contractors did not pay attention to quality while constructing the canal and it led to the collapse of the sub-standard waterway.
