PLA cantonments lack health staffer, treatment affected

DHANGADHI: Post of a doctor at the seventh division of the People Liberation Army combatants of the UCPN-Maoist here has been lying vacant for two months. The post has been vacant since June 30 after the doctor Hari Prasad Shrestha went out on study leave.

Office secretary at the division Singharaj informed that of the posts of eight staffers, there were only four staffers, including a peon, remaining in the cantonment.

“The number of patients is increasing in the cantonment. Only a staff nurse is treating the patients.” According to Singraj, there is lack of health staffers but the patients of diarrhoea, typhoid, among others, have been increasing in the cantonment lately.

There is no doctor at the main camp in Talbandh as well. He informed that the health assistant Bikram Singh left the job one-and-half month ago. There are posts of eight health staffers in the health section in the main camp.
