PLA integration will invite civil war, says Sushil
Sankhuwasabha, February 7 :
Nepali Congress acting president Sushil Koirala today warned that the nation might plunge into a civil war if the Maoist-affiliated People’s Liberation Army was integrated into the Nepal Army.
Addressing a gathering of party cadres in Khandbari, Koirala said, “Politically indoctrinated PLA cannot be integrated into the NA.”
“NC will launch an agitation from both the street and the parliament if the two army’s merger was initiated,” he said. Saying that the government was trying to go ahead with the integration process without informing the NC, he urged party cadres to be alert against such move.
Stating that the Maoists were against democracy and development, he said the ordinances introduced by the government were against democratic norms and parliamentary system.
“The ruling parties are trying to deceive people by forming militant groups,”
he said, adding, “The Maoists are acting irresponsibly by not returning the land and property seized in the past to the rightful owners.”
“The consequences will not be good if the Maoists do not return the seized land and property at the earliest,” he warned.
