PLA men take shelter in locals’ houses

Dhangadhi, March 2:

Most of the Maoist People’s Liberation Army soldiers of the Seventh Division Headquarters at Taalband in Kailali have gone to nearby villages seeking shelter after two PLA soldiers in the camp were killed in a windstorm on Wednesday night.

After most of the tents in the main camp were blown away in the windstorm, the PLA soldiers spent last night in locals’ houses at Manikpur, Kailashpur and Matkaina and returned to the camp this morning, division commander Mahendra Bahadur Shahi ‘Prajwal’ said. Nearly all the huts inside the camp were destroyed in the windstorm. “Scores of trees fell down inside the main camp due to the windstorm and it was risky to stay inside the camp,” Prajwal said. He added that though the huts were reconstructed, there are no plastic sheets to cover the hut-tops.

A meeting of the Far West command of the PLA was held in Taalband today to assess the damage to physical infrastructure in Seventh Division Headquarters and three sub-camps due to the windstorm.

MP Lekh Raj Bhatta, Maoist deputy commander Prabhakar and Far West command in-charge Biplav were present in the meeting. Deputy commander Prabhakar reached Taalband on Thursday. The last rites of the deceased PLA men were performed yesterday while a condolence meet was organised today in Taalband.
